Case Study
Keywords on what I worked with in this project: Software development, user interfaces, usability testing
The Task
In this project I worked together with 6 other students on the development of a literature management system that could be used as a shared database between man project groups such that it is possible for the different groups to see what other groups uses and to discuss the usefulness of a specific piece of literature.
Qualifications
My primary focus in this project was on usability, that is I focused on how the system were to be looking but also that I worked with the execution of usability tests in a dedicated usability lab. In this project we worked together with Computer Science student and the work with this project therefore provided me with a very important understanding of how computer scientists work but also an understanding of how important it is to make precise descriptions of how a system should be in order for the developers to be able to implement it correctly.
Results
We developed a functional prototype of the system which consisted of both a server and the client side software that allowed the students in project groups to manage literature in relation to their projects. My primary input in the project was suggestions for how the user interface should be and the execution of usability tests.
